The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Producers of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.

The latest action-packed title that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for embracing violence and madness with equal excitement, all while presenting captivating, ideologically themed stories. No wonder then that FX's decision for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two creators whose creations have embodied all of those elements.

About the Series

Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game series, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' format by introducing a different location and ensemble in every instalment.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed magnificent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.

“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX family constantly supports me with their ongoing trust and support.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style series. Every title is a take of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To create a big action show that can change from one instalment to the next, while always exploring the essence of society through this complex and turbulent lens, is a dream come true. I’m eager to work with Rob and introduce our mutual bold, daring approach to the audience.”

A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
