Netflix Selects Spot-On Actor for Bon Clay in One Piece Third Season

Baroque Works is poised to play a huge role in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, although the major clash won’t unfold until the third season, and a beloved, audience-beloved member has recently been selected.

Netflix announced Tuesday that the talented performer will appear in the One Piece season 3 cast and will portray Mr. 2. The role can use their power to transform into an exact copy of any individual they’ve made contact with with their dominant hand. Escola, who is identifies as non-binary and goes by they/them, will play a interpretation of that character reinterpreted as gender non-binary, as opposed to as a drag queen, in the live-action show, unlike the original manga and animated series.

The new cast member will work alongside multiple recently announced actors tasked with bringing the organization to the screen, such as chief Sir Crocodile, portrayed by the seasoned performer, an emerging star as Miss Goldenweek, and an accomplished actor, who will appear as the cast as the monarch of the desert kingdom.

Though the role is a key figure of the organization, the character won’t make their debut One Piece the upcoming installment. Given season 2 likely to portray the Little Garden storyline, this signals a significant shift in the timing of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could suggest further changes to the plot development.

Escola’s blend of sharp comedic timing and deep sensitivity makes them a ideal selection for the character. Along with their latest vocal work in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and multiple awards for writing and starring in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, emphasizing the adaptability they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s highly regarded figures.

The platform’s adapted One Piece series is set to return for its season two on March 10, 2026.
