Manchester United's women's football side has made a significant signing by securing the services of Germany international forward Lea Schuller from the Bundesliga champions.

The experienced forward, who has signed a contract that will keep her at the club until June 2029, is the club's second signing of the winter transfer period, following the signing of defender Hanna Lundkvist.

A Proven Winner

Schuller spent five years at the Bavarian club, featuring in more than 100 games and helping them win multiple Bundesliga championships.

For her country, her record is equally formidable, with 54 strikes in 82 caps for the German national team.

"From our initial talks I held with manager Marc Skinner and the club, the aspirations of everyone here were extremely evident," stated Schuller.

She featured in the team that finished as runners-up to England at the 2022 European Championship and also won a third-place finish at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Ideal Move

"There is still so much that I want to achieve in my career, and I know that Manchester United is the perfect environment for me," Schuller continued.

"I feel that the way the team plays of football will really suit my style of play. I am confident my qualities and experience can help us to realize our aims both in the WSL and in the Champions League."

Matt Johnson, Manchester United's director of women's football, said: "Lea's goal-scoring record is exceptional, her style of play will give our forward line an dynamic new dimension.

"Lea's winning mentality and experience will be invaluable for our ambitious and youthful team as we keep developing together and compete across domestic and European competitions."

Building for Europe

The club are aiming to be active in the remaining weeks of the window as boss Marc Skinner seeks to strengthen his squad for the latter stages of the top European competition.

They have also secured a contract extension with important midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, who will now stay until the summer of 2029.
