Former Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients
Legal authorities have stated that a former doctor stands accused of committing assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
These allegations follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors outline the forty-five charges he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
